7075-T6 is used extensively in the aircraft industry for its light weight and high strength. Compared to DOM it is much lighter and has a higher yield strength. Aluminum has the ability to return to straight after bending from minor impacts, making it especially ideal for your steering. Lastly, there's no need to paint; aluminum does not rust.
